Auburn Squadron History

In 2005, the former Lee County Composite Squadron was reborn into the Auburn Composite Squadron.  In 2006, the unit established the CAP Iron Man Competition and coordinated the Wreaths Across America event at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery from 2006 to 2019.  Additionally, the unit sent members to multiple Wing, Region, and National special activities each year, participated in nearly every major disaster the state of Alabama faced, including Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Rita, the BP Gulf Oil Spill, and the April 2011 tornadoes, and its members and squadron awarded many accolades during this time.  Those accolades included the National Commander's Unit Citation, CAP's Col. Dion E. DeCamp National Ground Team of the Year (2010), multiple 'FIND' awards, multiple Unit Safety awards, as well as many of our members receiving Wing, Region, and National 'of the Year' awards.  Most importantly, its members have gone on to become nurses, doctors, lawyers, first responders, Wing Commanders, pilots, military personnel in every branch of service, and continues to have a positive impact on the local community.
